Speeding Tickets Activity
Description: Sometimes, our children with dysfluencies need to practice slowing down so they have time to get their thoughts and speech together. This is especially true for children with cluttering whose intelligibility and fluency improves greatly when they slow down. If you have a child that needs to practice slowing down, print out some speeding tickets like the ones above. Give a stack to the client and a stack for yourself. When either of you hears the other one going too fast, hand out a speeding ticket and have the other person try again with slow speech. Make sure that you give your client plenty of opportunities to catch you speeding as well! That will help improve his ability to identify when speech is going too fast.
