First, Then Board Activity

First, Then Board Activity

Description:  Do you have a client who struggles to maintain focus enough to actually work on something with you?  Well, here’s the solution!  A simple first, then board will help you get one simple thing done before the child gets what she wants.  I suggest laminating a page like this (you can download our using the link below or just draw rectangles on a page and laminate it).  Use a dry erase marker to draw what you want the child to do and what reward she’ll get for doing it.  At first, start small with just one rep of the thing you want her to do, and start with something easy!  Gradually you can work your way up to harder skills and more repetitions.  Once you do work your way up to multiple repetitions, you can even draw a few circles inside the “first” box and check them off as she does them.

Helping You Help Them

Our Mission

We all got into this field because we wanted to help.  But high caseloads, tons of paperwork, and not enough planning time leads to burn-out and stress.

The SLP Solution’s mission is to support you with tools, resources, and expert advice so that you can be there for the children who depend on you!

*** The SLP Solution is for informational and educational purposes only and does not provide medical or psychological advice.  We provide general resources but cannot tell you exactly what should be done for a specific client.  Every client is different and your clinical judgement should be used when making decisions about specific individuals.
