Vocal Abuse – Replacement Behavior Matching Activity
Description: Let’s play a matching game! Children who use vocally abusive behaviors need to understand appropriate replacement behaviors. Use a pre-made worksheet like this or make your own. Identify several vocally abusive behaviors and appropriate replacement behaviors. Then, have your client match them up. As you do this, make sure you practice the replacement behaviors with the child as well. And make sure you’re explaining why it’s important to use those replacement behaviors and what the vocally abusive behaviors can to do damage our vocal folds.
