Making Inferences from Pictures Activity

Making Inferences from Pictures Activity

Description: Making inferences can be very hard for some of our clients, so I always like to start with pictures.  Explain to the child that an inference is the combination of background knowledge and observations.  Show the child a picture and ask what inferences we can make.  Help them identify their observations (I see a man and a woman dancing and the woman is in a wedding dress) and their background knowledge (I know that women wear wedding dresses when they get married and people usually dance after they get married).  Then, help them put that together to make an inference (They just got married).  You can use the pictures in this worksheet pack or use your own!

Helping You Help Them

Our Mission

We all got into this field because we wanted to help.  But high caseloads, tons of paperwork, and not enough planning time leads to burn-out and stress.

The SLP Solution’s mission is to support you with tools, resources, and expert advice so that you can be there for the children who depend on you!

*** The SLP Solution is for informational and educational purposes only and does not provide medical or psychological advice.  We provide general resources but cannot tell you exactly what should be done for a specific client.  Every client is different and your clinical judgement should be used when making decisions about specific individuals.
