Editing Sentences for Punctuation and Capital Letters

Editing Sentences for Punctuation and Capital Letters

Description: Editing one’s work is an important part of the writing process, especially for our clients with literacy problems that will probably have some mistakes to correct.  For this activity, you can help them specifically check their work for capital letters and punctuation.  Explain the rules of punctuation and capital letters to the child at the beginning of the session.  Then, have the child edit simple sentences that are missing those things.  Teach the child the correct way to mark up a sentence to indicate where those capital letters and punctuation should go.  Then, have the child rewrite the sentences correctly.  Once the child can do this, have him go back and edit some of his own writing for these same concepts.

Helping You Help Them

Our Mission

We all got into this field because we wanted to help.  But high caseloads, tons of paperwork, and not enough planning time leads to burn-out and stress.

The SLP Solution’s mission is to support you with tools, resources, and expert advice so that you can be there for the children who depend on you!

*** The SLP Solution is for informational and educational purposes only and does not provide medical or psychological advice.  We provide general resources but cannot tell you exactly what should be done for a specific client.  Every client is different and your clinical judgement should be used when making decisions about specific individuals.
